I used this speaker to replace a missing one in my brother’s Silvertone 1457 amp-in-case rebuild. It was a perfect fit in this depth-limited application (even the screw holes lined up) and the sound of the finished project amazed us both. He told me that it never sounded this good, even back in the day. VERY pleased with this speaker!

I have this speaker in a Gibson Ga-5 amp. To me, this is the best choice for Champs and amps like them. They provide a bit more clean headroom and then a grittier crunch and more bottom end. Alnicos to me, in the same range are warmer and have less clarity but are still great in their own way. I like to have both on hand, but for my money the ceramic wins the day and is a great and inexpensive Champ type speaker. Its in everyones best interest to try both, but this speaker is excellent for a very modest price point.
