Ted Weber Speakers are built with tighter, more concentric voice coil gaps, and lower carbon, machined steel parts in the magnet circuits which yield a stronger, more controlled tone at all volumes, particularly in the low end at high volumes.

Ted Weber Speakers are hand-built to order, to ensure the best attention to detail is paid to your speaker.  We build them one at a time, on a table – not hundreds at a time on an assembly line.  This allows us to reduce the margin for error and produce an overall higher-quality speaker.  Please allow 7-10 business days for your order to be built and then shipped.

Tried this in a 5f1 champ. Has a warmer sound than the signature alnico 8in and a lot more low mids/bass. Seems a bit louder too! Definitely a darker sounding 8in speaker in my experience.

Recently purchased a 5F1A tweed clone that came with an Eight 15. Surprisingly good sounding speaker, but too British-voiced for this application. Called in to weber and was steered in he direction of the CVA8. Couldn’t be happier. I don’t have a Jensen to compare to for pure authenticity, but the voice is great and distinctly American. Very happy!

C.J, Thanks so much for recommending the CVA8 for my 1963 tweed Champ, this is the 5th speaker I’ve had in it so far and now it finally sounds the way I had hoped it would. I just played it over an hour and this little amp sounds huge! Very touch sensitive, it goes from chimey clean to sweet distortion just with my picking attack. I was disappointed when I bought this old Champ, but now I get first hand why the price of these keeps climbing. My only regret is not trying the CVA8 first, I have a pile of “8 speakers in my closet. Thanks again!

I have this speaker in a Champ clone from Carl’s Custom amps and it sounds fantastic. Very warm sounding and definitely has that Champ sound. Great speaker.

This is a pretty great speaker. It has its limitations, but one of the best 8’s I’ve ever played. It’s super dark, and kind of midrangey, meaning not a lot happening above 4k or so. Try even a darker 12 side-by-side and you’ll hear.

WTBS, it makes it GREAT for distortion. It also compresses beautifully (better if it’s driven by a big, efficient OT). You can get a single power tube on a Princeton, or the like to really sing with it.

On the negative end, I find I need to really boost the front end with a lot of treble. It also seems to do its best with a bright, bridge single coil in a Tweed. Darker pups not so great.

It’s absolutely fabulous as a stereo speaker, driven, with a clean 12″ along side. Try a Driven Champ w/ this + Clean Tweed Deluxe. Most 12s fill out the highs and lows and leave you with a full, not harsh sound with a snarling midrange.

It also took a while for it to break in. It would hit the limits pretty hard at first with drive, but it’s smoother out over time. It can handle more gain once it breaks in adequately.

Put this in a Supro Blues King 8 (new production 1W single-ended 12AU7 amp). It’s really dark. Has the mids and lows of the Alnico Sig8A but a much smoother treble response. Compresses nicely without the ‘raspy’ cone breakup of the Sig8A. For me, this speaker made the power stage distortion of the BK8 amp usable. Sure I have to turn the tone knob up 25% compared to the stock Eminence 820H speaker, but the resultant sound records so much better, clean or overdriven. The CVA8 is a highly specific flavor, but a great one.
